MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENTS
Hello to all! The Glasgow Scottie Band News Marches on!
The month of January brought exciting and rewarding individual honors to many of our students. The Scottie Band had the largest number of band students in quite some time from GMS, as well as GHS, that auditioned and made the All-District Band. Congratulations to these students as well as those students who were chosen to participate in the WKU Honors Band. Thanks to Mr. Bonds for making these wonderful musical opportunities available to our children and students.
The Nominating Committee has met and the following members of the Glasgow Scottie Band Parent Organization have been nominated by this committee to serve as officers for the 2010-2011 fiscal year. Nominees are Presidents-Elect, Ken and Tambra Cambron; Treasurer, Lora Pritchard; and Secretary, Denise Dickinson. This slate of nominees will be presented to the general membership at the February meeting. Additional nominations for these offices will be taken at the February general membership meeting as well. Please be reminded that you must obtain approval from any individual that you wish to nominate before nominating them. Officers will be voted on at the March general membership meeting.
There are many events taking place this month so please mark your calendars in advance. Jamey Buchanan will be attending KMEA All-State Band Feb. 3rd thru 6th. Congratulations and Good Luck to Jamey! Junior Parents will be meeting on Thursday, Feb. 4th in the band room at 6:00 p.m. to begin the initial planning stages for the awards banquet to be held in May. A baby shower will be held for Corey and Katherine on Monday, February 8th beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Band Room. All parents and students are invited to attend as we welcome Baby Bonds to the Glasgow Scottie Band family! There will be a special called Executive Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. the 9th at 6:00 p.m. in the Band Room. The monthly Executive Board and General Membership meetings scheduled for Feb. the 4th have been rescheduled to Feb. the 11th. Pep Band and basketball concessions will continue this month. Please check the pep band schedule for game dates and contact Mike or Phyllis McGuirk to volunteer to help in concessions this month.

CANDY BAR SALES BEGINNING SOON It is time to start our candy bar sales! (Enough time has passed since New Years Day, most have forgotten that resolution to lose weight.) Please help your band members with this project, by taking some to work, Bunco Night, etc. Also remind them to not leave the candy in the car on cold nights, since freezing can cause discoloration. (Selling more than one case earns money for student accounts.)
