MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
I hope this Scottie Band newsletter finds each of you having a blessed holiday season. I want to take a moment to congratulate all of the students from both Glasgow High School and Glasgow Middle School that made All-District Band. This year we placed 38 students into the district band, with several others receiving honorable mention awards. This is a great accomplishment for all involved. We are currently preparing for that All-District Weekend, which is coming up very quickly! It starts Thursday, January 7th. Also a huge congratulations goes to Jamey Buchanan for making the 2010 KMEA All-State Band. Jamey is an outstanding junior clarinet player and will have a wonderful four days in Louisville in February playing with other talented teenage musicians from across the state. And finally congratulations to all of the students who prepared a wonderful Christmas concert. To the jazz band, the percussion ensemble, and the concert band, GREAT JOB! Pep Band will be in full swing as we begin 2010 and the second semester of studies as always will bring a full slate of things to do. Please be on the lookout for more information regarding upcoming band events, and let's continue helping our students achieve to their fullest potential!

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENTS
Wow! As we look back over the year 2009, we wonder how did it pass so quickly! It never ceases to amaze us that the older we get the faster time passes.
December was a very busy month. Thanks to all who volunteered their time working at Kilted Christmas. We had a diverse group of craft and gift vendors as well as a great turn out from the community. The Christmas parade was once again a successful event for the band. Thanks to all you worked concessions and walked the parade route with the students the night of the parade your help was greatly appreciated. Kudos to Mr. Bonds and the band for putting on a spectacular Christmas concert. It was awesome! Give your children a pat on the back! Also, thanks to the Glasgow Baptist Church for allowing us to use their facility for this event. We hope they enjoyed their fruit basket! Thanks to all who sold fruit and thanks to Mike and Phyllis McGuirk for all their hard work making the fruit sales successful.
There are several events and much business taking place during the month of January. The Nominating Committee to nominate next year's officers has been appointed. This committee will be meeting on Tuesday, January 19th at 6:00 p.m. in the band room. If someone from this committee contacts you and wishes to nominate you as an officer for next year, please consider accepting their nomination. We will hold our regularly monthly booster meeting on Thursday night, January the 7th beginning at 7:00 in the band room. Pep band game dates for January are January the 12th White Pep Band, January the 15th Blue Pep Band, and January the 29th both Blue and White Pep Bands. All-District Band will be held January the 7th thru the 9th. This is an overnight trip for those students who qualified for All-District Band. Mr. Bonds has distributed a detailed itinerary for this two night three day trip. Please ask your child about this information if he or she is an All-District Band member and you have yet to see it. WKU Honors Band will be held January 21st thru 23rd. More information regarding this event will be forthcoming at a later date. There are also several home basketball games scheduled for this month. Please contact Phyllis or Mike McGuirk to help out in concessions at our home basketball games.
