December "KILTCORNER" Newsletter

DECEMBER 2009 NEWSLETTER

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENTS:
WOW, What a marching season it was! Sometimes it was great and sometimes not so great. No matter what the outcome the Glasgow Scottie Band will persevere through all because we are a family!Carl and I want to say a big thank you to every single person who lent a helping hand during marching season. We would not begin to mention names for fear of leaving someone out. Without your continued hard work, support, and dedication to this program, the great tradition of the Glasgow Scottie Band would not be what it is today. Thanks for supporting your children! We would like to also announce that Denise Dickinson was elected at our November General Membership meeting as our new secretary to fill the vacancy in that office. Denise is a Scottie Band alumnus. She is married to Miller Dickinson, and they have two children, Stuart and Emma. Her daughter, Emma, is in the 8th grade at GMS and is already an active member in the Glasgow High School Scottie Band. Please give Denise a big welcome and offer to help her in any way that you can.Even though marching season has ended for another year, many band activities are taking place during the month of December. Our monthly booster meeting will be held on Thursday, December the 3rd beginning at 7:00 in the band room. Please plan to attend. On December the 5th, the band will be marching in the Christmas Parade. Band boosters will be selling concessions the night of the parade in the Glasgow High School Cafeteria. Please contact Phyllis McGuirk if you can help serve concessions the night of the parade. The annual Scottie Band Christmas Concert will be held on December the 17th at 7:00 p.m. The place will be announced at a later date. Pep Band will also be beginning this month. A pep band scheduled has been assigned. Please ask your child about this schedule. Fruit orders and money are due to be turned in on December the 4th with the fruit being delivered on December the 10th. Fruit pick up details will be announced at a later date. Winter break begins December the 21st and runs through January the 1st. Rest and enjoy !
FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS WE WISH YOU A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR! Carl & Kellye Bishop

Concession Workers Needed

Parade Concessions Workers Needed

We will be selling from the cafeteria this year, so we will need more help than usual.
Since your kiddos have to be there at three,
that would be a great time to just stay and help,
instead of fighting the traffic to leave and come back to pick them up.

We are usually busiest from four until seven or so.
We will need some help earlier for moving things over and wrapping, too.
(And, of course, moving things back at the end.)

Email Phyllis at phyllismcg@msn.com if you are available,
and let her know when you want to help.

Thanks!!!
