Time is Running OUT!!

Time is running out!!!

The contest for selling band cards ends Wednesday, September 30th.
Since you do not have band rehearsal on Wednesdays, all band card money and any unsold cards will be collected on Thursday, October 1st, BEFORE rehearsal. That is the last day to turn in money to be entered in the weekly drawing or to be counted toward the top prizes. (As always, you may turn it in before then.)

That means you have one more week to sell, sell, sell. Many people in the community have not been asked to buy one yet. There is still time to get the cards you have out sold.

ALL unsold cards must be turned in, also. You must be able to account for every card you were assigned, either by turning in money for it or returning the card. If you still have the first ten cards out, you must turn in money and cards totaling $100. (For example---$100, or $80 and 2 cards, or $50 and 5 cards, or $30 and 7 cards. You get the picture.) Of course we prefer getting the money, since we can not spend the unsold cards on food or music or instruments or anything else for you or the band.

Despite the rain---The South Central Kentucky Marching Band Classic was a success! Barren County gave our Grand Champion performance! Congratulations to our neighbors - we couldn't be more proud. It is really nice to see these two bands being so supportive of each other!

Thank you to everyone who helped. This is a huge event and it takes all of us to make it happen!

Wanna move a clock?

If you have seen the show, you know we have lots of props---and more are being made.
(Huge thanks to Leigh Anne Botts and Ken Cambron- excellent work!)

We have several pit pups, but we also need parents to help at performances to get them on and off the field quickly! Please contact Ken Cambron and let him know if you can help. Hopefully we will have enough people so that the same people won't have to do it every week. Ken also invites you to just stop in on competition days and ask if he has enough folks to help out!

State Week Planning

It's the most wonderful time of the year.....band year anyway! STATE WEEK!!!

Planning begins Thursday, October the 15th at 7:00 -
Come join in the planning for our state week activities and our state party.

What is state week? This is the week just before state competition. This is the week that the kids work extra hard in preparation for the biggest competition of the year and we show them how proud we are of them by decorating the band room with posters, give them treats after every practice and have a party for them with all kinds of finger foods, the seniors traditionally perform a skit and say something about their years in band and play lots of fun games!

State Week is November 1st- 6th.

We will meet in the band room on Sunday, November 1st to decorate.
Bring posters already made or bring markers, stickers, pictures, etc and make the posters that day. Your poster(s) can feature your student, your students section, your students graduating class, an inspiring message---anything you want. We just try to be sure that everyone is featured on a poster in some way.

The time and date of the State Party will be established the night of our planning meeting as well as the activities- don't miss out it is so much fun and truly a time to celebrate!

Mark your calendars for these dates:
Thursday, October the 15th at 7:00- state week planning begins
Sunday, November 1st at 2pm- decorate band room
State Week is November 1st- 6th
State Party date- to be announced
Individual activities- to be announced

Attention Junior Parents!

It is time to start planning Senior-Night at the Football Game!

This is traditionally a job for our Junior Parents

A planning meeting will be Thursday October 15th at 6pm in the band room.

All Junior Parents please be sure to attend.

Eye on the Budget

Our treasurer alerted us at the meeting that our night that there were a few times in the past month that we were in danger of our band account going into a negative balance.

The Problem:
The age old problem of more money going out than coming in.

The Solution:
#1- If you haven't paid your band fee's yet please get that money in, even if it is only part of it.
#2 Please sell your band cards. To date only 14 people have turned in money for band card sales. We ask that each student sell only 10 cards.

We depend on the band fee's and band card sales to get us through this part of the season. This is our most expensive time of year as we are buying so many things for our show, paying band camp instructors, buying food to feed the kids on competition days, buying start up items for our concession stand and so much more.

Find your spot!

We need everyone to help with the South Central Kentucky Marching Band Classic on Saturday, September 19th Each year we invite many bands to perform in our contest, and it takes all of us to pull off this event. From parking to refreshments for the bands after they perform- it takes everyone of us to be sure everything is taken care of.

If you have not already found an area to help in please contact Kellye Bishop kellye.bishop@glasgow.kyschools.us or Phyllis McGuirk phyllismcg@msn.com to find out where help is still needed. If you don't call us, we will call you!

Alumni students and parents, you are welcome to help us too! I am sure you all remember how much fun this day is and how much help is needed.

The South Central Kentucky Marching Band Classic is well known for being one of the best!---it is thanks to all of you who help!

Don't forget Global Fest

The band wil be taking care of the carnival at the Global Fest this year on Septemeber 5th. If you are interested in helping, please contact Scott and Nancy Compton. sncompton@scrtc.com
